Who and what are we?
We are a small, friendly branch of the u3a, the nationwide self-help organisation. The u3a operates under the aegis of the Third Age Trust, whose emphasis is on lifelong learning through sharing educational, creative and leisure activities. The Third Age refers to the period of life when full-time work is over and there is time to meet new friends, follow hobbies and interests and explore new ones.
The u3a is a charitable organisation that was established over thirty years ago. It now has over 400,000 members and more than a thousand local branches. For more detailed information on the history and ethos of the u3a and the Third Age Trust, visit their national site. It's well worth a look.
PS Just in case you're new to the area, nearly everyone who lives here calls the town Chippy.
